If you play Skyrim and have more than 2gb of RAM, read-me.

Recommended Posts

As the title states, if you play Skyrim on a computer with 4, 8, 12, or 16 gb of RAM, I highly suggest using the following, provided on the Skyrim Nexus.

http://www.skyrimnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=202

As the file description suggests, it allows Skyrim's exe to use more than 2 gigs of RAM. It's not going to fix all those bugs however, it will increase game performance and stop a lot of those CTDs.

To apply the LAA, open the exe, dive into Skyrim's path (something like Hard Drive/Program Files (x86)/Steam/steamapps/Skyrim) and make sure you select the TES5.exe (do NOT select the Launcher.exe, that will NOT work). Patch the TES5.exe and make a shortcut (launching the game via the launcher still works, so long as you've patched the game exe). Launch the game and enjoy.

Also, let's share character stories. I've got two toons, a level 36 Dunmer hack and slash / sneaky and stabby type running around in a set of Legendary Glass Armor. I've maxed the Dragon Shout "Elemental Fury" and rock out with screen-blurring power attacks that shred ice and black dragons to pieces in a matter of moments. As far as story progression goes? I have yet to visit High Hrothgar. I've been doing nothing but exploration.

For my second toon, we have something slightly different. A level 28 Dunmer with a focus on block, heavy armor, and casting. A tin can that shoots fireballs. While I am less than satisfied with the current magic system (it lacks depth compared to TES III, just like it lacked depth in Oblivion, but worse) I still get a kick out of hiding behind a shield while torching, shocking, freezing, or otherwise destroying my foes. When I take too much damage, a quick heal spell and I'm back in the fight. As with my first character, I've been doing nothing but exploration, simply in a different part of Skyrim with a different play-style.

Eventually I shall grow bored of exploring and save the land from the evil Alduin but first, I need to roll an Orc-stealth type that creeps about before smashing someone's head in with a warhammer. A dagger will be kept handy for instances where it will be more beneficial to slit the guys throat as opposed to cracking his skull in two.

I play a dunmer as always so i can stay true to my morrowind roots. I focus on destruction, conjuration, and single handed weapons. I have done a few of the daedric gods bidding and have some decent swords and maces. I am level 29 atm and have gotten a few pieces of ebony armor and thats how im rolling.

Some cool stuff

-I fought a dragon at the college of winterhold while fellow mages assisted while magic was flying everywhere, was pretty cool.

-Turned into a werewolf

-fought a giant as a werewolf and killed it

-Went to jail and killed a dude with a shiv

-Casted a shout that glitched and killed everyone in whiterun

Thanks, I remember doing this on Supreme Commander also to improve performance/get rid of CTd's.

MY chars:

lvl 23 something Nord specializing in 2h weapons, heavy armor, Smithing, and enchanting(looks imba.) Also playing both chars on expert difficulty. At first it was rough, with heavy armor limiting your capacity(so heavy...) and movement, and it felt like the armor did nothing for me. I ended up getting full plate, and fully upgrading it. I then got 70 Heavy armor and got conditioning. Wow, I feel really strong now. I also got the Companion legendary 2h axe, and i'm destroying everything. THe only thing that ever gets me is magic spam... Once I get high enough enchanting, I'll probably enchant some resist stuff on my helmet and such if I can.

Lvl 8 or so pure mage Breton. Specializing in Destruction, and dabbling in everything else. Probably going to focus alteration for the mage armor stuff, but i'm focusing on destruction for damage. Can't wait for the stagger perk in destruction... Also to find better mage gear, as this novice shit sucks. QQ.

The application is running in 32bit mode even in a 64bit operating system.

Anyway, I'm a level 30 Imperial thats a classic "Knight" type, Heavy Armor, 1 Handed, Blocking, Lockpicking and Enchanting are my main focuses.

At night I turn in to a werewolf and terrorize the local populance, Riverwood had been wiped out by repeated werewolf night raids.

I sacrificed one of my companions for a Daedra lord who in return gave me Ebony Mail armor with 5 damage per second effect on enemies near me, pretty awesome.

I finished the main quest line, finished the Companions quests, finished Dark Brotherhood quests and finally finished the Skyrim civil war who I sided with the Stormcloaks after witnessing that the Imperials are a bunch of faggots that capitulate to friggin elves..what a bunch of wimps.

Right now I am just exploring around, I'm trying to find a Katana sword because I saw it in one of the loading screens.

I have about 45 hours in to it..still feel like I barely scratched the surface of the game.

I follow what I played in Morrowind and Oblivion; Level 22 Redguard, kind of a "ranger" type class. I specialise in bows and sneaking. I prefer to sneak through dungeons getting the sneak multipliers. My secondary skills are one handed weapons and block which is what I default to during swarms of shit. Not to big on the magica and funnily enough I wear heavy armour but I unlocked the sneaking perks quick enough to make it so the armour I wear makes no difference.

I am kitted out in full steal-plated armour, with an elven bow and elven arrows. I use a Dwemar shield with the mace of Molag Bal for my other fun stuff. Have a home in Whiterun and am focusing more on side quests/exploration then main quests.

At the start I was debating what character to do:

-Redguard swordsman from Arena?

-Breton spellcaster from Daggerfall?

-Khajiit thief from Morrowind?

-nothing from Oblivion, because everything I make gets gibbed after I gain a couple of level and I hate it and everything it represents as a game?

After some thought I went with my Morrowind char, if only because I had so much fun punching people to death in Morrowind, and unlike Oblivion the character model didn't make me want to drink until I forgot Oblivion ever existed, and after a moment getting used to the game, I'm having Fun.

Cool moment: I was exploring a tomb, when I come up on the boss. Silently, I take care of all the skeletons and draugrs defending him, and then go for a backstab. Unfortunately he had a few too many hitpoints, so that only severly wounds him, rather than outright one-shotting him, and I'm now desperately trying to kill an enemy that even half-dead still has too many hitpoint and has a big-ass flaming sword with my two daggers, when he uses his Thu'um on me, disarming me. Being that my character is basically an antropomorphic cat-man, I proceed to murder him with my character's claws.

Then I spent a good 10 minutes trying to find where his stupid Shout sent my two daggers.

LOL Merlo, I had one of these bosses use that shout on me sending my bow[lucky I had it equipped instead of my Daedric mace] over a huge ridge never to be found again.

Just installed the beta Nividia drivers. HOLY SHIT THEY HELP SO MUCH. Went from having issues on medium to being in the high-ultra territory with 50-70 frames. IF you're nvidia, GET THOSE DRIVERS!

Well, one was an Elven Dagger that I sharpened, so nothing too uncommon, since at level 27+ you can reliably find it in a few towns, but the other was a Glass Dagger, still pretty rare now that I hit 30. I just couldn't leave them on the floor.

FYI theres a bug with getting married.

Certain characters[who I am not going to name to avoid spoilers] if killed will reappear on your wedding ceremony as naked corpses in the entrance thus ruining your wedding with everyone telling you to "just leave", I had that bug..very annoying - the solution is to drag the corpses in to a nearby room hiding it from the ceremony participants, you can restart the wedding by talking with the girl/guy you intended on marrying and requesting to do it again.

Oh and I discovered that dragons can attack "instanced" cities, I was surprised to see a dragon attacking a town that has zoning boundaries.

Yeah, I was kind of surprised when a random dragon attacked triggered, of all places, inside Solitude.

Also, how does marriage work in-game?

You can get married by doing the following:

Go to Rifen, find Maralara or whatever his name is, guy in yellow hood - he usually hangs in the inn or the Temple of Mara.

Ask him about marriages in Skyrim, he will let you buy an amulet for 200 gold - after you get the amulet you equip it and the option to marry will appear when you converse with NPCs, after you propose the marriage you go back to the priest and he arranges the marriage in the next day and then you pick where you will live - your house or your spouses.

If your spouse has a shop of some sort you can get 100 gold daily off her/him, sleeping in the same bed as the spouse gives you 10% faster training skills, you can ask your spouse to cook food and you'll get another bonus.

You can get married to plenty of NPCs, eg Aela, Lydia etc.

That's awesome. Can you have kids or anything? What happens if they die or you kill them?

Not an Elder Scrolls fan, so when I started my character I didn't know what I was doing. I still don't know what I'm doing. I've got a level 11 Breton utilizing one handed weapons, a shield, and heavy armor.

Ok i need help. i can't find the skyrim TESV.exe anywhere. you seem like you know what your doing so any idea where it could be? any settings i might need to go through to find it? I ran into the problem when i was trying to install this mod or update. I saw in a screenshot the size of the file, i also noticed there is another file the same size but called TESV not TESV.exe though in the screenshot i saw in the instructions both were there not just the standard TESV file. alright last thing could i use the TESV file instead of the TESV.exe? I figured why not cause based on the screenshot they are the same size and might have the same characteristics. I'll wait for a reply and thank you in advanced for anyone who helps
