Mr.Pink at the time of his previous bans was very much guilty of violating the community rules, he was fairly banned and made no attempt in the last three years to subvert this ban and instead made attempts to be unbanned via our administrative process.  I believe that the three year ban was more than fair, saying that I believe this user has matured and should be given the chance to prove that he does not have the same attitude he had years ago. Mr.Pink is more than aware that any poor behavior would result in removal, though I do not see this as being an issue in the future and would ask the Regular base to give this user a chance.

I'd like to start by offering an apology to the United Operations staff and community. I'm not here to dispute any previous bans. It's been several years since my previous ban(s) and I would like a chance to re-join the community. I did stupid things and I want to move past them. It's been almost three years since my last ban and I believe the time away has been sufficient punishment for what I did. I violated the rules by using a new account to subvert a previous ban, when I should have just gone about doing it the correct way; and then lied about it blatantly. I should have followed the correct procedure and I did not. If you allow me to re-join the community I will stay with-in the boundaries of the rules and abide by the community SOPs. Since 2016 I graduated college with a BA in Criminal Justice. I wo rked two summers as a police officer in NJ. I'm now 1 week away from graduating the full time police academy and will begin work as a police officer in the next month. Because of this I have been asked to take on a lot of responsibility. When I was banned I did not have the same life experience I do now. I will not act the same way I did in the past because of this experience and dealing with the real world.  I've learned a lot from these recent life experiences and having to grow up fast that will translate to how I behave in the community. When I do have some time to game, I would love to spend it de-stressing with United Operations.

Sure, it has been almost 7 years since he was originally permabanned, and 3 years since he was caught for circumventing it. This has been ample time for the user to change and I say give him the chance, we did to Whitehead/XBOCT/blackskimask after all. If he breaks the rules again, we can always re-apply the ban.

So only 3 years or knowingly circumventing a permaban ? and when he was banned for 2 weeks he spewed such vitriol and contempt for the community its rules and its admins that it was independently escalated to a perm.

Compared Officers/GM's to Nazis

I love this server for three reasons.....the players. maps and the realism. Aside from that nothing else.....infact the admins ive seen so far have all been assholes. And i know you don't care and are not "losing anything of value" by me leaving. But thats not the point, the point i s that if you do this to people eventually you will get a bad rep. And i can tell you one thing i had a lot of respect for this server. Ive lost it, and as an arma community owner im fucking disappointed. I sure as hell know my admins go around banning like the Nazi SS....hence why we have major respect.

Suggested he did not care he was being banned and extolled the virtues of his alternative community

Quote

Its funny you think i care. UO was a nice time passer while my mod team/admins were on vacation. This server isnt unique, you have rules and some custom missions....big fucking deal. Try to make a completely custom mod for arma like we are. Thanks for your mod files and missions, me and my community will enjoy playing them when bored. P.S (You still need some major work). Here let me help you out with a couple things, get a better dedicated server for when you preform big operations and teach your missions makers how to optimize their missions. Your SQL skills need touch up. Might i suggest an SQL database as well?

Granted these statements were made 7 years ago, but the fact he registered a new account within a year of his perma and continued to use it up until he was found out clearly shows that at least up until that time he was happy to continue to disregard the rules of the community, and also that his statement about not caring he was removed were false.

In this ban thread where he was discovered to be playing under another alias it took two days before he admitted it. He went so far as to deny it even when presented with all the evidence that j0zh presented. Going so far as to accuse members of photo shopping evidence to get him banned.

All that being said in his statement he accepts the record as it stands and wants to move past them, this is a willingness to own his actions that we did not see in the past. We have also unbanned people with far worse records than this. I have stated in the past that I believe that no one is beyond redemption and as such i would propose the following. If we vote to remove the perm then it would expunge only the one permanent ban, leaving the rest of the ban record intact, this would in effect put the account onto a one strike state where the previous ban history being used as escalation would result in a perm for the first offence. If there is an issue with a relapse of conduct then it would be possible to remove the user, if after a period of time there has been no indication of a return to the old behavure then a poll for the removal of historic bans could be made if it was deemed appropriate.

Thoughts ?

I'm agreed with Pope, repeal the original perm and leave the record intact, as what he has said in the past here is very strikingly against the community and the people who were helping to moderate it. Then going so far as to claim about stealing "our" mods, and talking down on them at the same time in a rather petty manner. If he has moved on I would like him to show it more than what a single forum post could demonstrate.

The person who put up the poll missed two bans, one being the one where he finally admitted to bypassing his original ban.  Best to get all the information up front and not hide anything,  I did not dig deeper into Septemebr

Its worth pointing out that when he was banned the second time around for bypassing his ban as september

He outright lied repeatedly in the ban thread despite being confronted with evidence that he was indeed the same user.

Please tell me this is a joke... Toast and I had a dispute on another community and he runs over to UO and attempts to get me wrongfully banned because he did not get his way. I would like to see proof that I am this September account/person. I have been Mr.Pink since the very day I started playing at UO. I don't understand how someone can take a personal vendetta out on someone and get them wrongfully banned. This one blows my mind.

Quote

Toast was a member of crime life before I  was, he had access to the website admin panel that all admins use. He obviously altered things while he still had access in order to get me banned. What I also don't understand is that one of the pictures shows that my name was once "September" yet the other once which is the actual original screenshot of my profile shows no "September" alias, once again CLEARLY altered. I am not September.

Quote

For the last time I am not September. But go ahead and ban another loyal player for something completely wrong/unrelated to the UO community. If that is your decision so be it.

While It is my opinion that if we are to remove the perm that we should retain the other history, i am not yet sufficiently convinced to vote yes for this poll.

That's not in question, this poll only removes the perm, so by default the rest would remain unless another poll removes those, and even if that weren't the case, 4.1.2 is our friend.

Yes the dude said some nasty things, but it was 7 years ago. He was still in high school and immature, and as for the ban evasion, we unbanned whitehead, who had been known to have evaded bans on multiple occasions. He was actively evading a ban when he finally had his perm repealed. We can easily give this guy the benefit of the doubt, take his word that he has matured in the years that have passed, unban him, and should he cause problems, immediately re-ban.

Voted yes, seems like the ultimate victory for UO. The guy told us to fuck off years ago, and said his community was better when he was banned the first time round, tried to circumvent the perma ban, and then years later comes crawling back wanting to be let back in legitimately.

People change and grow up over the years, maybe September/Mr Pink has, maybe he hasn't, but it's easy enough to remove him should he act out again, and worth a punt.

Some people change, and some don't. Willing to see which type MrPink is. Yes.

Everyone is saying its easy to remove him if he's not changed, but historically its not.  Time and again we say things like this but do not act for what ever reason.  I am not willing to take that chance and vote no.
