PSA: acre_game dependancy removal.

Recommended Posts

In the latest build of ACRE, the mod removed the "acre_game" dependency without warning. Mission makers need to review all their missions and make sure that the dependency is not present or gets removed.

WHAT IS A DEPENDENCY?

A dependency is a way for the game to check to make sure that the required mods are loaded for a specific mission. If the dependency is missing from the active addons, then the mission will fail to load / do crazy shit. Usually dependencies are related to core pbo files, thus why they are rarely a problem.

HOW DO I FIX THIS ISSUE?

BACK UP YOUR MISSION.SQM BEFORE ATTEMPTING THIS!!!!!!!!!

You need to go into your mission.sqm file and begin a search for "acre_game". Usually two or three results will come, one being a string in a giant array like this:

addons[]=
{
	"A3_Air_F_Exp_Plane_Civil_01",
	"ace_realisticnames",
	"RHS_US_A2_AirImport",
	"rhsusf_c_m113",

	"ace_zeus",
	"ace_fastroping",
	"ace_medical_menu",
	"Werthles_WHK",
	"A3_Modules_F_Misc"
};

and the other being in a config format like this:

class Item43
{
	className="acre_sys_prc117f";
	name="acre_sys_prc117f";
	author="ACRE2 Team";
};

To fix the fisrt instance (giant array), just delete the entire string with the quotations and the comma after it. To fix the config, turn t into something like

{
	className="";
	name="";
};

The problem should now be [somewhat] fixed to the point you can load it into the game.

THE FILE LOOKS LIKE A BUNCH OF NUMBERS / WEIRD TEXT. WHAT DO I DO?

Your file is most likely encrypted (or corrupted...) and you will need to install arma3tools on steam. Once you have that installed, go to the install directory and go to cfgConvert. In there should be a "MissionDerap.bat". Drag the file onto the bat and it will automatically decrypt the file.

THE GAME SAYS "ERROR WHEN LOADING THE SCENARIO!".

To that I say "Instructons not clear, dick stuck in SSD", and the easiest course of action is to try and restart, this time in the presence of a somewhat competent person so you don't look crazy.
