UOAF Session 230 - Saturday [2016-03-26, 1800z]

Theater: Korea Theater of Operations (KTO) - Iron Fortress

Decapitation Strike

With the utter failure of the alpha strike to meet its intended objectives, DPRK high command is meeting with Chinese and Russian advisers to negotiate terms for their entry into the war. Covert intelligence has determined that the Ace of Spades himself, Kim Jong Un, is in attendance. This is it, boys: if the target can be hit, it may stall the expansion of the war and likely cause a regime change in the North.

To avoid spooking the target and losing our window of opportunity, the main strike will conduct a nap of the earth (NOE) approach to the east of the target, pivot, and attack with speed and surprise from the east. The 14th has been outfitted with LANTIRN capable KF-16C-52s. The F/A-18Cs and KF-16 SEAD will loiter to the south of the target, clearing the way in for the strike. The target is an underground factory complex just north of Soktam-ni city. This complex has been hardened, so JDAM penetrating munitions delivered via a pop-up attack are suggested. The weather is poor.

The bullseye for this operation is Koksan airbase.
Chalis-1 E-2C AWACS is on station for picture calls.

Strike PACKAGE 1992

Cowboy1- 4-ship KF-16C-52 Strike: Fly NOE, as per the flight plan, to ensure maximum surprise. Strike the underground complex and take out the primary target.

Fury1- 4-ship KF-16C-52 SEAD: Hold to the south of the target area. When Cowboy1 is inbound from the east, clear the area of any air defenses. Support Hornet1 in clearing enemy fighters on the way to the NOE point.

Python1- 2-ship KF-16C-52 Escort:  Fly point for Cowboy1, joining them on their NOE attack. Assist Hornet1 in clearing out enemy air threats on the way to the NOE point.

Hornet1- 4-ship F/A-18C Escort: Hold to the south of the target area and watch for threats to Cowboy1, intercepting as necessary. Clear out enemy air threats to allow strike package to make it to the NOE point. *PACKAGE LEAD*

The time change is unfortunate as I understand some of our European team have trouble with earlier starts on Saturdays. The time adjustment keeps the start time consistent in North America in the different time zones due to daylight savings. I hope that there is an opportunity for those impacted to participate before the time changes again in the Fall!

They're moving their clocks Saturday night, just like we did.

Thanks Slider, I didn't know that :-) This should make it easier for some "across the pond" to make it to the summer events.

Sorry for pulling out but weird stuff happened on takeoff. First time plane wouldn't accelerate beyond 80 knots, then 2nd time engine blew up for no reason (I made extra effort to make a shallow, gentle rotation). Didn't want to come back and cause more issues.

The strike was a mixed success: although the strikers were able to make it to the target, it has not been confirmed if enough damage was caused to take out Kim Jong Un. Furthermore, two F/A-18Cs valiantly sacrificed themselves against a pair of MiG-29S to give the strike enough time to make it to the target.

I've been on vacation since Friday morning and didn't RSVP, wish I could have been there. I hope I didn't waste anyone's time. It would be a real shame.
