Hello,

I’d like to join the Public Relations Office in order to run and create more internal and external community events, boost internal advertising, incorporate more games in an official capacity, make use of the United Operations steam group, boost media, and further external & internal community relations.

Over the past few years I’ve run many unofficial events within the community and have worked on a large number of projects. Currently, I’m a UOTC senior Instructor Co-Running Tiger Team with Boondocksaint, and function as a delegate under Azzwort, focusing on video and other media related content. Lately, I’ve been organizing play sessions for Squad, Arma 3, Mechwarrior, and a number of other games. These are a few of the more notible “events” I’ve run in the past:

As a PRO, I’d like to focus on running structured and advertised events. I’d like to make effective use of the Steam Group for scheduling and alerting community members, post everything on the forum calendar for easy access, and move to incorporate popular games into a more official aspect within the community. Azzwort and Impulse have done an admirable job as Public Relations Officers; however, each also oversees different aspects of the community. In becoming a PRO, I would be able to devote more of my time and effort into creating and running events regularly, as well as establish a number of centralized delegates to create media of all mediums.

Please post any questions you may have, or find me on Teamspeak.

This poll requires a simple majority vote lasting 2 weeks.

What exactly do you feel the current PRO's are not doing which would require another PRO?  Have you approached the PRO office and requested they do something in those areas?  What was the result if you did?

Headshot has approached and talked to me, he's worked on several recent media projects for the community and is a capable in this regard. He has the organizational skills required to run events and the social skills required to communicate with other communities. I feel he would be a quality addition to the public relations office.

Voting yes.

Yes. If adding more PRO's means more events, then I support the effort, and am willing to give this a try. Sure, there is more to the Public Relations Office than just putting on events. However, the main difference between now and 2010-13 is event frequency. Events motivate people to make meeshuns, and it motivates people to play these meeshuns. My most constructive criticism of the PR Office is as follows: Whenever I have asked the PR Office why events have significantly dropped in frequency in the last three years, every time the response has been the following:

"Nobody has proposed an event"

"There are no meeshuns on the server to make an event"

I don't think these are legitimate claims to justify the lack of events. I believe that Officers of any division must not only serve as passive administrators (such as acting on event requests or general requests from below), but should set a direction for their office from a position of leadership. This includes taking the initiative and making events, among other things, including pushing forward new initiatives or forging relationships with other communities. The PR Office is especially important because it sets the pulse for the rest of the community.

If a meeshun is stable and is on primary, it is by definition event-worthy. If an event consists of 15 people, 40 people, or 100 people, it's still an event. I get it, it can take a lot of effort to put on an event. Events do not  have to include labor intensive planning such as 100 page briefings and elaborate leadership and role slotting. The event roster can simply be a list of people who RSVP'd for the event, and I'm sure this has been the case before in some events. Nowhere in the Event SOP's does it state anything that is overly laborious, minus the custom content testing period rule which makes 100% sense. We have plenty of large meeshuns on primary right now that could qualify as event-worthy. Even if we recycled three meeshuns once a month every four months, the activity on primary would be incredibly improved. If someone disagrees, then why not try it out?

Anyone who promises increased event activity is worth a try. Maybe the PR Office needs more help. Headshot is particularly qualified given his history as a non-Officer facilitator.

Simply, I feel there's been a lack of internal community events. Call me old fashion, but In the past we had nearly Bi-weekly events which saw huge turnouts, and while I agree that times change, the snowball effect I've seen through organizing Thursday play sessions has shown me similar things are possible again. While Krause's event occurred recently, I'm leaning towards the issue that  events boost community cohesion and player turnout.

Personally, the PRO can be the force which rally's the troops and boosts moral through a number of things, primarily the use of ads and events -- which is where I'd like "reboot" the office.

Have you discuss what this "reboot" is with any other present officers?  Also have you discussed these concerns with the PRO officers prior?

Headshot has done good work for UOTC

While I would like to vote yes I'm pretty sure that he is key to azzworts plans for UOTC going forward. So my question is How do you think being a PRO will detract from those other responsibilties?

I've not been that active recently, yet every time I've had a look on the forums I've seen Headshot organisng something. Seems like he'd be a good fit for PRO and if azzwort's on board then that seals it for me. Voting yes.

Headshot is proactive when it comes to creating and promoting events. He has shown through action that he is the right man for the job. If he gets voted in, we can expect many more community events.

In talking with Impulse he has not had any discussion with you about any 'reboot' of the PRO office.  When multiple officers are in a department communication is important with ALL officers.  Not just the ones you currently work for.  I see this as a problem that needs to be resolved.

I am voting No.

I have known Headshot since he was a tender youth until his recent accent to manhood. I like him like a little brother, he will do well in this position.

In reboot I specifically mean "booting up" the PRO. The PRO hasn't run a decent event in a while, and I'd like to spearhead new activity -- this is what I mean by "reboot". I've discussed this with Azzwort, and been under the illusion Impulse is focused elsewhere.

Working with UOTC doesn't take much of my time. I am certain I will be function in both rolls more than adequately. If my PRO goes through, Gusy -- rather than me -- would take upon more responsibility and "CO" the video crew, and I would function as his "XO".

P.S;

I'd like to clearly state, so we're on the same page; I wholehearted intend to communicate every intent, idea, and point of concern with the other PRO Officers. I understand the importance for intercommunication, and will use due diligence to ensure all points of contention are discussed.

Well, I think in order to be a public relations officer it would be important to be able to spell the days of the week properly when making announcements, but hey.:tongue:

Yeah, go for it.

HeadShot has helped to revitalize weekday Arma and I hope that he would continue to do so to an even greater effect from the PRO office. Voted yes.
